Countdown to Closing - Day 7

Well 7 days left until closing. Nothing new today. Thursday I do my walkthrough provided that it doesn't get snowed out. I'm going to call Robin tomorrow to find out what the status is with the lawyers for Fremont. At this point I'm starting to think that its not going to happen next week and its going to be delayed yet again. If it does get delayd by more than a day or so I'm probably going to push to have the closing done towards the end of the month when its less hectic and I can better plan for everything; so I either move in next week or it'll likely be the very end of the month.

Countdown to Closing - Day 8

Well I got confirmation that the only thing left from the Bank's side is the appraisal and they will be calling Fremont to set that up. At this point I'm simply waiting for confirmation of the closing date by the Fremont lawyers and the walkthrough. This is almost becoming a reality.

A royally good time

Well today I got to mingle with an actual Prince. Prince Radu of Romania was at WPI today on his only New England stop during his inagural "Friendship Tour" of the United States. I found him to be a very nice individual, very down to earth and personable. AYO was present to talk with him and show off the Little Theatre and it was quite a nice time and then I attended his speech later that day. All-in-all a very nice experience.

Countdown to Closing - Day 9

I got a voice mail late Friday from my Bank that I only got to yesterday that said that they were still looking into if they were ready for my closing date and if I had everything done that I needed to do. As far as the girl who left the message knew, I should be all set short of the appraisal, which hopefully can be scheduled in time to close on 3/7.

Well I stopped into Fremont today and talked with Robin. She mentioned that they are still working on findout out from their lawyers as to when to scheduled everyone's closing so that the clsoing date isn't yet 100% official yet. Figures. On the plus side though, I'm one of the first to close so I should have the best chance of getting a good schedule with their lawyers.

Another thing is that Robin would like to use some of the pictures I took of the condo building prior to the construction as sort of a before and after thing. They will be displayed as taken by me and placed around the main entry way area for visitors to the opening ceremony to see. Coolness.

My unit still isn't finished but there's not much more than a day's work left I think. Robin's sure that the unit will be finished in time for the walk-through on Thursday. Here's hoping.

Countdown to Closing - Day 11

Well today I called my lawyer and found out I'm all set on that front. I called my insurance broker and got my homeowner's insurance all set up.

I called the mortgage broker and am waiting back for a phone call to verify that they are set for a closing on 3/7. They are pretty much the only ones that can hold this up.

I called a couple of movers and it looks like its gonna cost about $270 - $360 to move, which is about what I budgeted for so that's all good, and they can move me as of 3/8. I guess I should start re-packing things.

Its hard to believe this is actually happening. After waiting so long and biding my time all of a sudden its super fast pace now. Here's hoping that the bank doesn't delay this further.

An Update

So I'm going to have a very, very busy time going forward.

Tomorrow (Friday 2/23): Entertain President of WPI and Trustees with a short play. Out dancing with Max

Saturday 2/24: Lots of stuff to do, Auditions for Sweeney Todd and Dinner with the all the parties involved with Sweeney.

Monday 2/26: Entertain Prince Radu in the Little Theatre

Thursday 3/02: Final walkthrough of Condo with contractor. Dinner with a friend that evening.

Tuesday 3/07: Pontential Closing date for Condo.

Moving probably that week or that weekend.

Tuesday 3/13: New Voices Auditions begins. 3 days of auditions

Friday 3/17: New Voices Callbacks/bloodbath - hopefully I'll be involved as I hope to direct this year, and short of that hopefully I get called back for something.

** At this point the 3 weeks of rehearsals begins for New Voices **

Friday 3/24 - Sunday 3/26: Alumni weekend for Glee Club

Wednesday 4/12 - Saturday 4/15: New Voices Festival

So I have a few things I need to do right? All this and I have to find some possible time to do an Open House while undergrads are still at WPI for the year. *sigh* So much to do, so little time.

UPDATE: I updated the date of NV auditions to be correct. Thanks Kelly.

Interesting thing

Ok, I'm so jumping on the bandwagon here but what the hell. Here's a fun little interactive thing that gets to see what kind of person I really am by the people that fill this out.

Update on all things "shady"

Well I've decided not to get the shades at this time. At this point its simply a want, not a need. With everything else I need to do the money can be better spent on other things, not the least of which is to be held in reserve while I find a roommate.

I would have to commit to these shades by the end of the month and I still don't even know when I'm moving in. I think I'm going to take Catherine's idea and slowly do them, room by room and install them myself. I'll do my bedroom first, then the guest bedroom second (only one window) and then I will tackle the living room last, but I won't do this until I have several months with a roommate and some emergency savings put away.

I still have to buy a washer/dryer set, 3 celing fans (2 bedrooms and living room), as well as other incidentals I may need. Add to this the fact that I don't yet have a roommate secured. I'll feel a lot better once that happens. I also may need to put some money into the old Audi as its feeling a little off and I'm not in any position to buy a new(-to-me) car at this point, but that's definitely the next item on the agenda.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions and I'll keep all of that in mind.

A "Shady" Proposition

Ok, so every owner at Fremont Lofts gets an e-mail about a potentially good deal on buying window shades for our windows. The shades are double cell Graber fabric shades. I got the quote and saw that the prices are fairly reasonable especially considering that they include installation, plus they have the benefit of being exactly measured by the design firm. So it seems that the deal for shades is actually pretty good.

Now for the sticker shock. It will cost me $2,652.00 to install shades in my unit. Now to be fair I do have 8 of these beautiful oversize windows. I have 4 that are 68" wide, 3 that are 78" wide and one that is a full 89.5" wide, and they are all 106" tall. To just do the bedrooms is $927.00.

I should have known I was in trouble when the representative from the commented said somethign to the affect of "Boy, you have a lot of windows". Most of the units actually have only 2 windows total, so their prices are a good deal less.

Now don't get me wrong - I was in no way expecting $10 per window or any such foolishness. I fully expected to pay $100-150 per window, but not $289, $349, and $449 per window (respectively per each size).

I am mulling the idea of buying only bedroom shades and buying the rest at a later date and either paying even more for them and having them installed or installing them myself. I also briefly considered buying only my bedroom for shades but if I'm going to get a good price on rent I really should provide shades for the guest bedroom to provide privacy. Especailly since I can't just buy a $10 set of blinds to hold things over given the size of these windows.

Comments, ideas? Am I out of my mind? :)
