I do....

So I'm of two minds today.

One part of me is ecstatic. Today the Supreme Judicial Court (SJC) of Massachusetts ruled that it is unconstitutional for the state to deny marriage rights to gay couples.

The other part of me is waiting for the other shoe to drop. The SJC stayed the execution of the order for 180 days, to give the Legislature "time to do what is feels is appropriate" in order to enact their ruling.

The pro-gay side is declaring full on victory stating the 180 days is to change the wording and punctuation of the forms so we can marry. The anti-gay side is saying the court left open a wide bearth for them to nullify the victory.

I have decided I'm going to be totally optimistic about this and believe the best possible outcome. We'll see in May if I'm right but I'm sick of being worried, sick of being afraid and I just want to enjoy this. Call me naive, call me a fool, but I'm going to believe this has the capability of being what it could be if for no other reason than it feels good to feel that way. I know this isn't the end of the battle and I will be there to help fight the remaining fights but I have to believe in something. I will believe that we have won.

All I ask is why is it so wrong for me to marry the man I love?

Old Friends

So Wednesday night I ran into an old friend of mine that I haven't seen in 3 years. We left of on a fairly sour note. After we both realized that the other one was there at the train station we gave each other a huge long hug, the first thing she did was say I'm sorry. It was great to hear her say that, but at the same time it was unncessary. I told her that I didn't hold anything against her and that I, on some level, always knew that we'd reconnect at some point and that she had needed her space. It was a great time and I look forward to rekindling the friendship. I just have to remember to stay on the left side ;) (inside joke).

All in all, its great to reconnect with one of your best friends after three years totally randomly. I hope things work out well.

A Study

So I get this random e-mail a while back from a girl studying Women's Studies at Harvard. She found my e-mail on lambda10.com - a resource for gays in the greek system. She's doing a study where the point is to interview someone and really get to know them and how they are affected by the subject matter you are trying to study. Well, her subject matter was gay men in fraternities and how it is or isn't different from the typical straight man in a fraternity and she's interviewing me.

I'll be meeting with her once a week to discuss various factors and answer whatever questions she has. So far its been a lot of fun. I'm very interested in reading her final report.

Time for the gym

Well I definately need to hit the gym. I'm starting to get noticably (at least in my opinion) overweight. The point is that my dad even commented on the fact that I'm starting to develop a gut. Add to that the inevitable hair loss that is my genetic legacy. *sigh*

Why is it that by the time you figure out life and the world of relationships enough your looks and figure start to fall apart? Actually, strike that last statement, I still have no idea where it comes to relationships. And life. :-P

Oh well. I'm hoping that I can at least get my figure back sometime soon.

Back from Doctor

Well it turns out I simply have a pulled quadracep. I don't recommend it. I simply have to take ibuprophen until it goes away and not aggravate it too much.

Ouch

So I don' t know what I did, but I hurt my leg. I'm off to the doctor today at 11:30 to get it looked at. It hurts every time I put additional pressure on it. I can walk for the most part but I'm kinda limping. I'll post the results of the appt. this afternoon.

Eclipse

The moon was absolutely spectactular tonight. First off it was crystal clear and the moon was a perfect full moon. After that the eclipse was stunning. At the peak of it, the moon was crimson. All in all an incredible sight to behold.

wow I need to post more

Is it bad when you have to check your previous blog entries to figure out what you need to post? I guess that's a sign that you haven't made an entry in a while.

Lets see what's new... I just talked to Stepha and she's coming back in January!! :) I can't wait. I'll have to have a Cosmo party in her honor.

I'm in the process of looking for a Townhouse/Condo to buy and move into, so it means that its time to tighten the old belt. I'll be going out less often, ordering out less often and basically doing only things in life that dont' cost all that much so that I can funnel as much money into my savings so I can have some semblance of a down payment.

The good news is that I already bought my season pass to Wachusett and my step-mom is giving me her old skis which are just about the right size. I'll be able to bring them to the ski shop to have them sharpened and resized for my boots for not too much and then I'll be all set for skiing this season.

I'm becoming quite the shopper I guess. Nick is so proud of me. I've been upgraded from the basic Express charge card to a Platinum card. When I finally have money to shop again it'll come in hand since I get 10% off every month on the first tuesday. I also get 25% off on my birthday. Here's to shopping after I buy the house. hehe

That's all for now. I'll post more later.
