Ok, today I was listening to the radio and heard the latest single from Cascada, a German dance music trio. The song was "What Hurts the Most", and as I listed to it I realized I had heard it before. As I found myself listing to this high-tempo dance/techno song, I ended up thinking, "Damn, the country version was so much better." (The version that I'm refering to is the Rascal Flatts version.)
Have I truly fallen that far? Does this mean I have to say I like country music now? What have you done to me Colin! This is totally your fault. :)

The Rascal Flatts version was Pop enough that they played it constantly on my top 40 station, so I think you're still ok. It's a good song, and not really that country sounding.
True, you make a good point. It seems there is more and more "cross-over" country these days. That's primarily the country music that I don't mind listening to. Also, after living with Colin for all those years I heard Rascal Flatts a lot and kinda grew to like them
One country cover of a non-country song that I can't stand is "Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning)" by Gary Allan. I'll admit that the original by Vertical Horizon had a bit of a folk/country vibe to it, but I just can't listen to Allan's version.
Also a good point- it really pissed me off when Bucky Covington sang "Best I Ever Had" on American Idol, during country week. Obviously it was a pop song (from a Worcester band no less!) that had been covered by a country singer. And that does not make it country.
Yeah I love when people have tried to tell me that that song was originally a country song. :) Obviously they've never heard of VH. I will admit that their early stuff is a lot more folky like James Taylor than pop rock. "There and Back Again" was really their breakout album that they really moved them into the rock arena.
Yes dear it does mean that you like country. That is almost all that I listen to now. I guess the trip to Nashville and Menphis had something to do with it!!!
Mom

Thank god I'm not the only one. Living with Amy for 2 years and having some very country family has doomed me to also not hating country. Welcome to the club sweetie.
